Cloud hard drive

What is Cloud Drive

EVS (Elastic Volume Service) can provide high reliable, high performance, rich specifications and elastic expandable block storage services for elastic cloud servers, which can meet the business requirements of different scenarios, and is suitable for distributed file system, development and testing, data warehouse, high performance computing and other scenarios.

Types of cloud hard disk drives

The performance of different types of cloud hard drives varies. You can choose the one you need according to the application requirements.

Disk mode of cloud hard drive

The disk mode of cloud hard disk is divided into VBD (Virtual Block Device) type and SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) type.

  • VBD type:

When you create a cloud drive through the management console, the disk mode of the cloud drive defaults to the VBD type. The VBD type cloud hard drive only supports simple SCSI read and write commands.

  • SCSI types:

You can create a SCSI type cloud hard drive through the management console, which supports SCSI instruction pass-through, allowing the elastic cloud server operating system to directly access the underlying storage medium. In addition to simple SCSI read and write commands, SCSI type cloud hard drives can also support more advanced SCSI commands.
