Instance lifetime
The lifecycle refers to the states that a bare-metal server instance goes through from creation to deletion; this section briefly describes the details of each state and the transitions between states.
Figure 1 bare-metal server state transitions

| Status | State properties | Instructions |
|---|---|---|
| In Creation | Intermediate state | After creating the bare metal server, the bare metal server state goes to the state it was before it was in operation. If you stay in this state for a long time, it means that there is an exception and you need to contact the operation administrator to deal with it. |
| Turning on | Intermediate state | Bare-metal servers go from shutdown to in-betweenness in operation. If you are in this state for a long time, it means that there is an exception and you need to contact the operations administrator to deal with it. |
| In Operation | Steady state | The state of the bare metal server in normal operation. Servers in this state can run your business. |
| Shutting down | Intermediate state | The intermediate state of a bare-metal server from in-operation to shutdown. If you are in this state for a long time, it means that there is an exception and you need to contact the operations administrator to deal with it. |
| Shutdown | Steady state | The bare metal server is stopped normally. A server in this state cannot provide business to the outside world. |
| Restarting | Intermediate state | The bare-metal server is undergoing a restart operation. If you are in this state for a long time, there is an exception and you need to contact the operations administrator to deal with it. |
| Forced restart in progress | Intermediate state | The bare metal server is undergoing a forced restart operation. |
| Deleted | Intermediate state | The bare metal server is in a state where it is being removed. If you are in this state for a long time, it means that there is an exception and you need to contact the operations administrator to deal with it. |
| Removed | Intermediate state | Bare metal server has been deleted normally. Servers in this state cannot provide business to the outside and are completely removed from the system in a short period of time. |
| Failure | Steady state | The bare metal server is in an abnormal condition. In this state of the server, can not provide external business, need to contact the operation administrator for processing. |
| Under reconstruction | Intermediate state | The bare metal server receives the rebuild request and is in the process of rebuilding. |
| Reinstall the operating system | Intermediate state | The bare metal server has received a request to reinstall the operating system and is in the process of reinstalling the operating system. |
| The operating system reinstall failed | Steady state | The request to reinstall the operating system was received, and an exception occurred during the reinstall, causing the reinstall to fail. In this state of the server, can not provide external services, you need to contact the operation administrator for processing. |
| Locking up | Intermediate/steady state | The status bar shows, indicating that the bare metal server is locked and in a protected state. At this time, some operations will be disabled, please refer to the instructions on the interface. You can click the link below the lock icon to view the lock resources. |
